You don’t have to have it all figured out before you reach out.
Women’s mental health and counselling support for parents, children and youth, with in-person services in Winnipeg, Selkirk and virtual counselling across Manitoba.
Maybe things have been feeling heavier lately.
Pregnancy or postpartum doesn’t feel the way you expected. You’re overwhelmed, anxious or exhausted. Your child is struggling and you’re not sure how to help. Emotions feel bigger than they used to. Or maybe you just know something isn’t quite right, and you’re ready to talk to someone about it.
HI, I’M JANELLE
Therapy can be professional without feeling clinical.
I’m a social worker, therapist, lifelong learner and mom of two. I believe some of the most meaningful work in therapy starts with something simple: feeling genuinely comfortable with the person sitting across from you.
My approach is warm, relational and grounded in evidence-based practice. There’s space for the hard conversations, the everyday stuff, and everything in between. You can show up exactly as you are, you don’t need to have the right words or know where to start.
Support for where you are right now.

Counselling That Feels Personal To You.
Feeling comfortable with your counsellor matters. I focus on creating a space where you feel understood, supported and able to be yourself.
Relationship First
There’s often more behind what we’re feeling than what shows up on the surface. I take the time to understand your experiences, relationships, environment and what’s happening in your life.
The Whole Picture
An Approach to
Fit You
I draw from evidence-based approaches while recognizing that everyone is different. Our sessions are shaped around you, what you’re experiencing and what you need from therapy.
Whatever is bringing you here, we can start there.
You might know exactly what you want support with, or you might just know that something hasn’t been feeling right. I work with clients through a range of experiences, including:
Anxiety & Depression
Pregnancy & Postpartum
Perinatal Grief & Loss
Parenting Stress & Caregiver Burnout
Emotional Regulation & Anger
Substance Use
Self-Harm
Major Life Transitions
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Learning is an ongoing part of my practice.
My education and professional experience have shaped how I support the people I work with, and I’m continually building on that foundation through further training, education and clinical experience.
Not sure where to start?
Starting counselling can come with questions. Learn how to choose the right service, book through the appropriate clinic and what to expect at your first session.
Ready when you are.
You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to begin. If you’re considering counselling, we can start with what’s bringing you here and take it from there.

Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and plan. Counselling services offered through both Cedar Mountain Counselling and Red River North CTS may be eligible for coverage through insurance and Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). I recommend checking with your provider to confirm your specific coverage before booking.
-
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to counselling, what’s been going on in your life and what you’re hoping to get from our time together. You don’t need to come prepared or know exactly what you want to work on — we’ll figure out where to start together.
-
There’s no set schedule that works for everyone. How often we meet will depend on what you’re looking for support with, your needs and what feels manageable for you. We can talk about frequency together and adjust along the way as things change.
